ALIGNER FOR ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT OF DISTAL OCCLUSION AND METHOD OF ITS MANUFACTURING Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61C7/00

Abstract RU 2828971 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to dentistry, and can be used in orthodontic treatment of patients with distal occlusion by making and using aligners. Aligners are used in the form of a tray of polymer material in the form of a dentition, with recesses for attachments on the inner surface and wings located on the buccal side. Each wing is hollow and has the shape of a truncated pyramid, wherein each face on the buccal side of the wings has an additional chamfer, and the inner surfaces of the wing repeat its outer surfaces. When using the aligners, the wings of the upper and lower aligners contact each other, fixing the lower jaw relative to the upper jaw when closed in the correct position. To make the aligner, 3D models of the patient's jaw are obtained. Teeth displacements and jaw positions are virtually simulated thereon, and attachments and wing moulding elements are installed. At the same time the elements are installed, forming a gap between them compensating for the thickness of the aligner material. Then obtained 3D model is used to make a model of the patient's jaw together with attachments and elements for moulding wings. Thereafter, an aligner for orthodontic treatment of the distal occlusion is prepared from the patient’s jaw model by thermal vacuum moulding. Each wing moulding element has the shape of a truncated pyramid and an additional chamfer on the face on the buccal side to exclude incomplete adhesion of the polymer sheet to the model.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to improve manufacturability of aligners and to ensure correct position of lower jaw relative to upper jaw when they are closed.
