FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a biocidal composition which can be used to treat paper intended for packaging food products. Biocidal composition contains polyvinyl alcohol, cluster silver with particle size of less than 10 nm and concentration of 100-300 ppm, citric acid, lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide, with the following ratio of components, wt.%: polyvinyl alcohol – 2-4, cluster silver – 2-3, citric acid – 0.1-0.2, lactic acid – 0.1-1, hydrogen peroxide – 0.01-0.02, distilled water – balance up to 100.

EFFECT: obtained composition is environmentally friendly, safe, has high fungicidal capacity and ability to inhibit microbial pathogens, as well as provides long-term storage of food products in package treated with this composition.
