SHIP ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM AND METHOD Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC B63H23/24

Abstract RU 2829603 C1

FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: ship electric propulsion system includes two diesel generators, a main switchboard, an isolating transformer, a two-channel excitation control system, two frequency converters, a clutch and a propeller, a propulsion motor with two groups of stator windings. Main switchboard includes two busbar sections, one for each diesel generator, a sectional device connecting the busbar sections, two breakers and a safety device – one for each busbar section. From each section of buses the corresponding frequency converter is connected, from which the corresponding group of stator windings of the electric motor is connected. Frequency converters can transfer the load of the corresponding group of electric motor windings from the frequency converter to the main switchboard. Isolating transformer is connected from each section of buses, through appropriate circuit breakers and fuses, which is connected to the excitation control system, which regulates voltage on the rotor winding of the electric motor.

EFFECT: higher reliability and energy efficiency.
