FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: micropuncture of anterior stroma layers is performed in a corneal graft erosion zone. On 14th day after the penetrating keratoplasty, a diagnostic examination is performed by staining the cornea with fluorescein to determine the area of the epithelial defect on the graft surface. In case of detection of epithelial defect with diameter of more than 3 mm, notches are made on anterior layers of corneal stroma using a neodymium laser on yttrium aluminum garnet in the graft erosion zone, at pulse energy 0.3-0.5 mJ, spot diameter 10 mcm, pulse duration 5 ms, not less than 1 notch is applied per 1 mm2, excluding the central zone of cornea with diameter of 3 mm. On 7th post-procedure day, the repeated diagnostic examination is used to assess epithelial growth in the erosion zone.
EFFECT: method enables treating persistent corneal graft erosion after penetrating keratoplasty by determining the optimal length of the therapeutic effect, apply sparing non-contact laser exposure on the cornea.
