FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to the production of aluminium raw material by electrolysis on electrolysis cells with both pre-baked or inert anodes, and with a self-baking anode for any current strength, in particular, to measurement of height of a layer of molten aluminium and electrolyte, which are located on the bottom of an electrolytic cell, as well as in other areas of non-ferrous or ferrous metallurgy, where accurate measurements of melt height are required. Device comprises a measuring probe configured to be fixed relative to a predetermined horizontal level on the flange sheet of the cathode, wherein the gauging template is formed by means of a vertical tube rigidly mounted on the flange sheet of the cathode, to the upper edge of which a horizontal plank is rigidly fixed, the opposite end of which is rigidly connected to the lower edge of the vertical tube by means of a diagonal plank, on the horizontal plank a bubble level is fixed, a ruler is fixed on the diagonal plank with the possibility of movement along the plank, wherein the measuring template is configured to be calibrated relative to the height of the electrolysis cell, the flange sheet of the cathode is configured to be used as a reference zero point, upper edge of the measuring probe is rigidly fixed relative to a given horizontal level on the flange sheet of the cathode through the measuring template, on the upper edge of the measuring probe there are additional holes, wherein lower edge of measuring probe is not secured and can be pulled to ruler with subsequent fixation to take actual values.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of measurements of the height of the melt layer.
