FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used to determine the depth of the cable in the ground. A laser device for determining the depth of a cable has a housing, a working panel on which there is a liquid crystal display, a button for switching on/off the device, a button for switching on sub-modes, a button for measuring depth by satellite coordinates. In the housing there is a semiconductor laser with a transmitting optics, a photodiode receiver with a receiving optics, a time interval measurement unit, a microcomputer, a memory unit with a miniUSB connector, a satellite signal receiver with a liquid crystal display and an on/off button connected to the receiving satellite antenna, and a storage battery.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of obtaining accurate information on the depth of the laid cable along its entire length in the trench not filled with earth and accurate determination of the depth of the cable during its operation in the trench filled with earth, increased safety of excavation works on cable line route with elimination of cable damage.
