FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a lens for ophthalmic use, configured to change the depth of field. Implantable or wearable lens for ophthalmic use comprises an anterior surface and a posterior surface, where at least one of said surfaces has an aspherical refractive profile with circular or rotational symmetry with respect to the optical axis and has a geometrical height z(r) determined by expansion into a series of Forbes polynomials. Said refractive profile generates amplification of wave front W(r) emerging from the lens so as to expand the depth of field gradually and continuously in the range of optical power from −1.0 dioptres to 4.0 dioptres.
EFFECT: invention enables significant changes in depth of field without detriment to quality of vision in the reference range.
