SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption equipment and can be used in cleaning industrial exhaust gases or in respiratory protection means. Method of producing a chemisorbent involves preparing an impregnating solution containing a nickel salt, impregnating granules of active carbon with a total pore volume of 0.85–1.2 cm3/g, aging and thermal treatment. Impregnating solution contains nickel sulphate and concentrated sulphuric acid in molar ratio of 1.0÷(0.9–1.2). Impregnating solution is heated to 70–80 °C, and aging is carried out for 0.5–1.5 hours at room temperature. Content of nickel sulphate in the finished product should be in range of 20÷24 wt.%.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the time of protective action (PAT) of the chemisorbent with respect to ammonia.
