FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing coatings based on the MAX-phase of the composition Ti2AlN on titanium nitride ceramics. Synthesis of homogeneous non-stoichiometric titanium nitride TiN0.5 by nitridation of a metal workpiece from titanium at temperature of 1,200–2,000 °C in a mixture of inert gas and nitrogen. Nitrogen is dosed with the help of precision peristaltic pumps. Temperature of nitridation is controlled by means of temperature controller, which is connected to pyrometer of spectral ratio and thyristor power regulator. Nitridation is carried out throughout the depth of the titanium metal workpiece until the termination of changes in the electrical resistance of the said workpiece. At the second stage, aluminum is sputtered on the synthesized homogeneous non-stoichiometric titanium nitride TiN0.5 in a vacuum at temperature of 1,300–1,400 °C. Obtained material is then coated with layers of aluminum foil and annealed in a high-purity argon atmosphere in a tubular furnace to form a layer of MAX-phase based on Ti2AlN in a mixture with the intermetallic compound Al3Ti and aluminum nitride AlN. Said intermetallic compound Al3Ti and aluminum nitride AlN are removed by holding the coated and annealed said material in mixture of 6M hydrochloric acid and 1M potassium fluoride for 15–30 minutes.
EFFECT: obtaining coatings based on MAX-phase on titanium nitride ceramics with a homogeneous composition.
