FIELD: wear-resistant coatings production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of wear-resistant coatings and can be used to improve the reliability and service life of a wide range of cutting tools. A method for producing a coating based on intermetallic compounds of the Ti-Al system on a hard alloy part in a gaseous medium by vacuum arc deposition involves preliminary degreasing the surface of the hard alloy workpiece, placing the said part in a vacuum chamber, in which an operating pressure of 8·10-3 – 5·10-2 Pa, ion cleaning of the workpiece, heating and activation of its surface first with a high-current plasma source with a filament cathode to a temperature of 350-400°C, and then to a temperature of 400-450°C by electric arc evaporators in an inert argon gas environment. After the above heating and activation of the surface of the workpiece, a coating is applied on the basis of the Ti-Al system in a gaseous environment of nitrogen, oxygen, acetylene and argon using two independently controlled evaporators while assisting the process with a high-current plasma source with a hollow cathode with the formation of phases TiN, TiO, TiC, AlN, Al2O3, AlC, TiAl, Ti3Al, TiAl3.
EFFECT: improvement of the physical and mechanical properties of the part is provided by obtaining various intermetallic and solid phases in a multilayer coating synthesized in a medium of reaction gases.
