SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology, in particular to a method for assessing direct contact toxicity of microplastic particles on a model of isolated mononuclear leukocytes of peripheral blood, involving the use of flow cytometry with visualization. For this purpose, venous blood is taken from the test subject, from which a suspension of mononuclear cells is recovered, a suspension of mononuclear cells is incubated in RPMI 1640 medium with microplastic particles with a fluorescent label and a control suspension of mononuclear cells is simultaneously incubated in RPMI 1640 medium without microplastic particles with a fluorescent label, followed by a flow cytometry study with visualization using a common leukocyte marker CD45 and vital dye 7-AAD.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a relative quantitative assessment of direct contact toxicity of microplastic particles with respect to mononuclear leukocytes of peripheral blood.
