FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to a storage battery containing electrochemical cells with electrodes made on the basis of direct reduction iron, as well as to volumetric and long-term energy storage systems in a battery with such electrodes. Technical result is ensured by the fact that the electrodes are made of iron ore and an iron concentrate, wherein said iron concentrate contains at least 60 % iron, and where said iron ore is in the form of hematite, magnetite, wustite, martite, goethite, limonite, siderite, pyrite, ilmenite, manganese ferrite with a spinel structure or a combination thereof. Different versions of the battery implementation can include electrodes from iron-containing materials, where iron contains impurity phases, such as SiO2, CaO and others.
EFFECT: increasing the surface area of the iron-based electrode material.
