FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: initial material loading chutes (4, 4) are installed on both edges (2, 2) of a furnace, and electrodes (5) are installed in the furnace centre if to look in the direction throughout its width. Burners (6) of additional burning are installed in upper part (1) of the furnace having stepped areas directed downwards from both edges (2, 2) to electrodes (5). First, by loading carbon-containing material (A) from chutes (4, 4) there created are layers (12) of initial material, which are inclined downwards to lower parts of electrodes (5). Layers (13) are created on inclined surfaces of layers (12) by loading initial material (B) in the form of a metal containing agglomerate. Iron slurry is obtained by gradual melting of lower edges of layers (13) due to heating by means of electric arcs occurring on electrodes (5). At the same time, from burners (6) there blown is oxygen-containing gas (C) to provide combustion of gas containing CO, which appears in layers (13). Layers (13) go down along inclined surfaces of layers (12), and layers (13) are heated due to radiation heat as a result of such combustion.
EFFECT: invention allows improving efficiency of additional combustion and eliminating ganging in the furnace of a layer of metal containing agglomerate.
