Disclosed is a floating roof of tanks for storage of flammable liquid with a fireproof upper surface layer. Upper fire-retardant layer is obtained by applying a mixture prepared from a set of components comprising a first aqueous composition containing water onto the surface of the base and one or more inorganic salts and inorganic oxides containing one or more phosphates, a second aqueous composition containing water and one or more components selected from Na₂O, K₂O, NaOH, KOH, MgO, CaO, Mg(OH)₂, Ca(OH)₂, and inorganic fibres. Also disclosed are embodiments of a floating roof, use of a set of components, a tank with a floating roof and a method of making a floating roof.

EFFECT: group of inventions increases strength, as well as fire-retardant and electrical insulation properties of the upper layer of the floating roof.
