FIELD: optical fiber.
SUBSTANCE: claimed optical fiber contains glass fiber containing a core and a shell; a primary resin layer being in contact with glass fiber and covering glass fiber; and a secondary resin layer covering the primary resin layer, in which a Young modulus of the primary resin layer is 0.04 MPa or more and 1.0 MPa or less at 23°C±2°C, and in which the secondary resin layer consists of a cured product of a resin composition containing basic resin including oligourethane(meth)acrylate, monomer, and a photopolymerization initiator; and hydrophobic particles of inorganic oxide. At the same time, the specified particles of inorganic oxide are silicon dioxide, and the content of the specified particles of inorganic oxide is 5 wt.% or more and 60 wt.% or less per the total amount of the resin composition.
EFFECT: creation of optical fiber, in which a shrinkage degree, when curing a secondary resin layer, is reduced, and the appearance of voids is significantly suppressed.
