FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video and image encoding and decoding technologies. Result is achieved by the fact that the video processing method includes steps of using a virtual pipeline data unit (VPDU) size used to convert between video containing one or more video regions, containing one or more video blocks, and a representation of a video bitstream, to determine whether division of the video block from said one or more video blocks is based on a ternary tree (TT) or a binary tree (BT), and performing conversion based on said determination, wherein the size is equal to VSize in the brightness samples, the dimensions of the video block are equal to CtbSizeY in the brightness samples, and VSize=min(M, CtbSizeY), where M is a positive integer.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of video encoding.
