FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used to protect ship electric power systems (SEPS) against overload in emergency situations. Essence of the method consists in the fact that in the time interval when the difference in the loads of the generator units (GU) operating in parallel does not exceed the allowable value, the difference in the loads determines the moment, when load of at least one of GU exceeds permissible value of load of this GU, and generating a signal to reduce fuel supply to the primary engine of each of the GU, the load of which is greater than the corresponding value of the allowable load of the GU.
EFFECT: solving the problem of unloading an overloaded generator unit (GU) without disconnecting consumers and reducing the total load of the SEPS.
