FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of measuring gas pressure in gas-discharge chambers or lamps. Optical method of measuring gas pressure in discharge volume consists in focusing laser radiation inside discharge volume and ignition of optical discharge, additionally, a second laser is installed and the radiation of the second laser is passed through the discharge volume and the burning optical discharge and is directed to a laser power radiation meter installed so that the radiation of the second laser after leaving the sealed chamber completely falls into it, measuring device fixes the transmitted power of the second laser during the optical discharge burning, the radiation of the first laser is switched off, and the meter fixes the radiation power of the second laser passing through the discharge volume without burning the optical discharge, calculating the absorption coefficient of laser radiation in the optical discharge, and determining the gas pressure in the discharge volume from the calculated absorption coefficient.
EFFECT: measurement of gas pressure in a transparent discharge volume of arbitrary shape without introduction of measuring elements into the structure of the discharge volume.
