FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of measuring gas pressure in gas-discharge chambers or lamps. Method of measuring gas pressure in the discharge volume consists in focusing laser radiation inside the discharge volume and igniting the optical discharge, after igniting the optical discharge, the laser radiation power is reduced until the extinction of the optical discharge plasma, at the moment of extinction of the optical discharge, the laser radiation power is fixed by installing the laser radiation power meter on the beam axis between the laser and the discharge volume, and determining the threshold power by subtracting the losses during reflection of the laser radiation from the surfaces of the wall of the discharge volume, and the gas pressure in the chamber is determined from the determined threshold power.
EFFECT: measurement of gas pressure in a transparent discharge volume of arbitrary shape without introduction of measuring elements into the structure of the discharge volume.
