FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to tobacco industry, in particular to systems simulating the tobacco smoking process. To implement the method of controlling an aerosol-generating device and comprising a power source and a controller, parameter indicating aerosol generation during operation of the aerosol generating device is monitored, and the monitored parameter is analysed to identify the user's puff. User puff is determined by means of beginning of puff and end of puff. Step of analysing the monitored parameter includes steps of calculating the first property of the monitored parameter, calculating the second property of the monitored parameter and analysing both the first property and the second property to determine the beginning of puff and the end of puff. Parameter indicative of aerosol generation is a parameter representing the power supplied by the power supply. First property is the first moving average value of the tracked parameter calculated on the first time interval having the first time interval duration. Second property is a second moving average of the monitored parameter calculated on a second time interval having a second time interval duration, wherein the second duration of the time interval differs from the first duration of the time interval. Declared is an aerosol-generating device.
EFFECT: high efficiency of using an aerosol-forming substrate.
