Aerosol generation device comprises a heater configured to heat at least a portion of the article to generate an aerosol, a processor, a memory, a user interface configured to output a notification to the user. Processor is configured to obtain data on the heating time of the heater when the accumulated number of heating operations exceeds or is equal to the threshold value. Processor is configured to store the obtained data in memory and output a notification through the user interface based on whether a predetermined condition relating to heating time data is met. To implement the method of operating the device for generating aerosol, data on the heating time of the heater are obtained and the obtained data are stored in memory if the accumulated number of heating operations exceeds or is equal to the threshold value. Notification is output through the user interface based on the fulfilment of a predetermined condition relating to heating time data.

EFFECT: notifying the user on the appropriate time for charging the battery of the aerosol generating device in accordance with the smoking interval of the user.
