FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, in particular to contactless means and methods of measuring parameters of objects and distance to them using laser radiation. Method of determining pixel coordinates of the centre of a laser spot of a low-power laser with subpixel accuracy consists in the fact that using numerical methods, parameters of an approximating function of two variables are estimated and pixel coordinates of the centre (xc, yc) of the light laser spot are calculated with subpixel accuracy. Approximating function is a two-dimensional Gaussian distribution with parameters of maximum intensity, coordinates of the centre of the spot (xc, yc) and root-mean-square deviations of intensity σx and σy. For pixels that have exceeded the threshold Itr, the brightness values I(x, y) are logarithmised, pixel coordinates are normalized and centred to the linear dimensions of the vicinity of the laser spot, and for logarithmic brightness values – to the value ln(2d-1), where d is bit depth of pixel brightness representation.

EFFECT: high accuracy of localization with subpixel accuracy of the centre of light spots from low-power lasers.
