FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to anaesthesiology, resuscitation and surgery, and can be used to predict the development of severe acute pancreatitis. An energy balance is determined between the energy received by the patient with enteral nutrition, taking into account his/her tolerance, and the energy requirement of rest, measured by indirect calorimetry, for first 5 days of the disease. If the energy balance is less than -10105 kcal, a high risk of developing a severe form of acute pancreatitis is predicted.
EFFECT: method enables reducing the risk of lethal outcome of the patient by increasing the accuracy of prediction and, consequently, the possibility of timely correction of the therapeutic approach.
