FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to X-ray diagnostics, urology, nephrology, and can be used for determination of renal parenchyma volume. When analysing the computed tomography data, the transverse (x) and anteroposterior dimensions of the kidneys (y) are measured perpendicular to each other on an axial section with the largest cross-sectional area, wherein the length of the kidney is measured from the upper pole to the lower on the frontal section with correction for the true axis of the organ (z). That is followed by three measurements of the thickness of the renal parenchyma on a frontal section along the renal columns in the region of the upper and lower poles and in the middle of the kidney, and the arithmetic mean value of these data (T) is obtained. Further, the parenchyma volume is calculated by the developed formula.

EFFECT: method allows to exclude additional nephroscintigraphy, expenses on additional software for CT, as well as to reduce radiation exposure and cost of diagnostics due to measurement of linear dimensions of renal parenchyma thickness at different levels.
