SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to study the excretory function of the kidneys. Computed tomography is performed with intravenous contrast, and the parenchyma of both kidneys is segmented in the nephrographic phase, including the cortex and medulla. Volumetric images are obtained with data on the volume of each kidney and the average density of its contrasted parenchyma in Hounsfield units. The volume values are multiplied by the average density for each kidney and the obtained data is summed, after which the percentage of the resulting product of the volume and the average density for each kidney is calculated from their sum and the contribution of each kidney to their total excretory function is obtained.

EFFECT: method eliminates the need for additional nephroscintigraphy or dynamic CT examination due to the proposed algorithm for assessing the contribution of each kidney to their overall excretory function.
