SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to psychiatry, and can be used for prediction of the course of affective disorder by bipolar and monopolar depressive type on the basis of blood serum protein determination. Content of S100B protein and neuron-specific enolase NSE in blood serum of the patients is determined before the beginning of therapy. If the S100B protein content is below 13.8 pg/ml and the NSE content is above 3.94 mcg/l, a bipolar course of affective disorder is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of predicting the course of the affective disorder in the bipolar and monopolar depressive type to increase the accuracy of diagnosis and for selecting the optimal psychopharmacotherapeutic approach to treating the affective pathology, by determining S100B protein concentrations in combination with the NSE content in blood serum, reflecting astrocytic and neuronal changes promoting the development, progression and outcome of affective disorder.
