FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, specifically to a method of extracting valuable metals from spent secondary lithium-ion batteries. During the melting process, a chlorinating agent is added and during the extraction process lithium is extracted in the form of lithium dust, in addition, during the melting process, a slagging additive is added to form 3-phase slag CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 with composition from 21 wt.% to 28 wt.% CaO, from 55 wt.% to 63 wt.% SiO2 and from 12 wt.% to 17 wt.% Al2O3, for this purpose, during the melting process, the composition of the slag formed during the melting process is analysed, and based on the result of the analysis of the composition of the slag, the amount of slagging additive is adjusted to achieve a slag composition corresponding from 21 wt.% to 28 wt.% CaO, from 55 wt.% to 63 wt.% SiO2 and from 12 wt.% to 17 wt.% of Al2O3.
EFFECT: high degree of extraction of valuable metals, such as nickel, cobalt, copper and lithium, from spent secondary batteries.
