METHOD FOR INTRAOPERATIVE NEUROMONITORING OF RECURRENT LARYNGEAL NERVE Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC A61B17/00 A61N1/04 A61B5/05

Abstract RU 2835935 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to surgery, oncology. Before hemithyroidectomy or thyroidectomy, the vagus nerve is stimulated for the first time. Then, during thyroid surgery, the recurrent laryngeal nerve is isolated at the site of its origin from the vagus nerve and stimulated for the first time. Further, the recurrent laryngeal nerve is traced to the entrance to the larynx, where it is re-stimulated. Then, vagus nerve stimulation is performed after hemithyroidectomy or thyroidectomy. Functional consistency of the vagus and recurrent laryngeal nerves is confirmed by recording the contraction of the lateral cricoarytenoid muscle with the help of electrodes placed in the lateral cricoarytenoid muscle from one or both sides.

EFFECT: method enables fast and clear identification of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, confirming its anatomical integrity and functional preservation during the operation on the thyroid gland, avoiding disability or death of the patient.
