METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ASSESSING THE INTEGRITY OF THE LARYNGEAL AND VAGUS NERVE IN PATIENTS UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B5/05

Abstract RU 2769849 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely, to surgery, and can be used for intraoperative monitoring of the laryngeal and vagus nerves by detecting the laryngeal adductor reflex (LAR) in a patient under general anesthesia. The method is implemented using surface electrodes of an endotracheal tube and by monitoring the contralateral laryngeal adductor reflexes detected after the application of electrical stimulation using the surface electrodes of the endotracheal tube. The system for intraoperative monitoring of the laryngeal and vagus nerves comprises an endotracheal tube and a signal generator/receiver configured for electrical stimulation and recording of laryngeal adductor reflexes. The endotracheal tube for intraoperative monitoring of the laryngeal and vagus nerves comprises a body of the endotracheal tube provided with an inflatable element and flat sides, on the surface whereof multiple surface electrodes are located, configured to supply electrical stimulation and record contralateral laryngeal adductor reflexes (LAR).

EFFECT: system, method, and endotracheal tube ensure assessment of the integrity of the laryngeal and vagus nerves without installing an electrode on the vagus nerve due to the supply of electrical stimulation and recording of contralateral laryngeal adductor reflexes (LAR).
