METHOD OF INTRAOPERATIVE NEUROMONITORING OF NON-RECURRENT INFERIOR LARYNGEAL NERVE Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B17/00 A61N1/36

Abstract RU 2800571 C1

FIELD: medicine; surgery; oncology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for intraoperative neuromonitoring of the irrecurrent inferior laryngeal nerve in patients with thyroid pathologies. The method includes identification of the irrecurrent lower laryngeal and vagus nerves and confirmation of their functional viability by electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve for the first time before removal of the thyroid lobe, then during the operation on the thyroid gland, the irrecurrent nerve is isolated in the area of its origin from the vagus nerve and stimulated for the first time. Then it is traced to the entrance to the larynx, where it is stimulated again. Further, electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve is carried out after removal of the lobe of the thyroid gland at the level of the hyoid bone and above the origin of the non-recurrent lower laryngeal nerve from it.

EFFECT: method provides reducing the frequency of damage to the irrecurrent lower laryngeal nerve during thyroid surgery, reducing violations of voice function and respiratory function due to the identification and confirmation of anatomical integrity, by applying an electrical discharge to the irrecurrent and vagus nerves before and after removal of the lobe or lobes of the thyroid gland.
