FIELD: generation of terahertz radiation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to generation of terahertz radiation and concerns a converter of pulses of femtosecond laser oscillators of near infrared range into terahertz radiation. Converter consists of an electro-optical crystal LiNbO3, presented in the form of a thin plane-parallel plate, and two matching elements attached to the plate and made of a material which is transparent in the terahertz range, for outputting radiation from the crystal into free space. Matching elements are made in the form of truncated cone halves, which generatrix is inclined to height at an angle providing full internal reflection of terahertz radiation from side surfaces of truncated cone halves, subsequent normal incidence of radiation on the bases of the halves of the cone and output of radiation into free space in the form of a collimated beam.
EFFECT: high efficiency of generating terahertz radiation with spherical focusing of an optical pumping beam and generating a collimated terahertz beam.
