SUBSTANCE: invention relates to molten glass granulation in production of glass insulators and other glass articles. Molten glass granulator consists of a scraper conveyor immersed in a bath with cold water, which is configured for thermal grinding of glass to granules with size of 3-8 mm, and is equipped with an electric drive and a tension station. Scrapers of the scraper conveyor, made with possibility of moving glass granules along the bottom of the bath to the unloading zone, are attached to two parallel traction plate chains made with possibility of movement along guides located inside the bath body. At the same time the upper edges of scrapers of reverse branches of the traction plate chains are located at depth of 60-70 mm from the upper water level in the bath. Two counter-rotating rolls with diameter of 480-490 mm, installed with gap of 20-25 mm and equipped with frequency-controlled electric drives, are located above the bath with the help of a support frame. First roller facing the tensioning station has a rotation speed of 16-20 rpm, and the second roller facing the electric drive of the scraper conveyor has a rotation speed of 20-24 rpm. First roll has on its cylindrical surface located from each other at distance of 40-50 mm annular ribs with height of 5-6 mm and width of 5-8 mm, and the second roll has on its cylindrical surface rectilinear longitudinal ribs with height of 8-10 mm and width of 5-8 mm located at distance of 40-50 mm and located perpendicular to the end surfaces of the roll. Lower parts of the rotating rolls are submerged in water by 30-50 mm, which provides their cooling.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of granulating droplets of molten glass mass weighing from one to seven kilograms.
