SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to clinical laboratory diagnostics, and can be used for prediction of risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in males. A sample of peripheral venous blood is taken. DNA extraction is followed by analysis of polymorphic variant rs3219484 (C>T) of the MUTYH gene. In case detection of genotypes rs3219484-C/T or rs3219484-T/T, high risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted. In case detection of genotype rs3219484-C/C, low risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides obtaining new criteria for assessing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in men based on genotyping polymorphic variant rs3219484 (C>T) of the MUTYH gene.
