SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to medical diagnostics, and can be used to predict the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in women with obesity. Peripheral venous blood is sampled and DNA is extracted. Polymorphic variant rs469994 (G>A) of gene ZNRF3 is analysed. If observing the genotypes rs469994-G/A or rs469994-A/A, a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted. If observing the rs469994-G/G genotype, a low risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides obtaining new criteria for evaluating risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in women with obesity according to genetic polymorphism rs469994 (G>A) of gene ZNRF3.
