SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to medical diagnostics, and can be used for prediction of risk of developing diabetic distal polyneuropathy in people of Central Russia with type 2 diabetes mellitus. A sample of peripheral venous blood is taken. DNA extraction is followed by analysis of polymorphic variant rs12542298 (T>C) of the HSF1 gene of family of heat shock proteins. If the genotype rs12542298-C/C is detected, an increased risk of diabetic distal polyneuropathy is predicted. If observing the genotype rs12542298-T/C or rs12542298-T/T, a low risk of developing diabetic distal polyneuropathy is predicted.
EFFECT: method provides obtaining new criteria for assessing the risk of developing diabetic distal polyneuropathy in people of Central Russia with type 2 diabetes mellitus according to the genetic polymorphism rs12542298 (T>C).
