FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for measurement of methane concentration in air atmosphere. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that the analysed gas flow is placed in an electrochemical cell with a cavity formed by interconnected two disks from a solid electrolyte, having a capillary for gas exchange between the cavity and the analysed gas, on the opposite surfaces of one of the discs there is a pair of electrodes, and to obtain the limiting current flowing through the cell, DC voltage is supplied to electrodes with supply of positive pole to electrode located inside cell, wherein an electrochemical cell is used with a cavity formed by two interconnected discs of a proton-conducting solid electrolyte, which is placed in a stream of a pre-dried analysed gas, DC voltage in range of 200-700 mV is supplied to the electrodes and the value of the obtained limiting current flowing through the cell is used to determine the concentration of methane in the air atmosphere.

EFFECT: enabling reliable determination of methane concentration in a mixture with air using simpler measuring instruments.
