POLYMERIC PROTECTIVE DEVICE FOR CATHETER NEEDLE TIP Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61M25/06 A61M5/32

Abstract RU 2567592 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medical equipment, namely to a catheter device comprising a polymeric protective device for a catheter needle tip and used for automatic needle protection for reasons of safety after the needle has been used for inserting a catheter tube. The catheter device (1000) comprises a protective device (100) for a needle tip, a needle (303), a carrying needle unit and a catheter unit. The catheter unit comprises a catheter sleeve (200) and a catheter (201). The protective device (100) for the needle tip and the catheter sleeve (200) are configured detachable from each other. The needle (303) has a tip (304). The catheter sleeve (200) has: a distal end of the catheter sleeve with the catheter (201) projecting from it, a proximal end of the catheter sleeve and a hole limiting a ring space inside the catheter. The carrying needle unit also has: a distal end of the carrying needle unit with the needle (303) projecting from it, and a proximal end of the carrying needle unit. When the needle (303) is in ready position, wherein the needle (303) projects inside the catheter (201), the needle (303) is partially arranged to move inside the protective device (100) for the needle tip. When the needle (303) is in the completely retracted position, wherein the needle tip (304) is completely retracted from the catheter (201), the protective device (100) for the needle tip distally protects the needle tip (304). A lock member prevents a distal motion of the protective device (100) for the needle tip with regard to the completely retracted needle (303). The protective device (100) for the needle tip is kept in contact to the catheter unit in the above ready position by at least one contact area between the protective device (100) for the needle tip and the catheter unit. A contact surface of the protective device (100) for the needle tip is at least partially made of a first polymeric material, whereas a contact surface of the catheter unit is at least partially made of a second polymeric material. The contact surface the protective device (100) for the needle tip and the contact surface of the catheter unit form at least one contact area between the protective device (100) for the needle tip and the catheter unit. The first polymeric material represents thermoplastic polymer containing covalently bond atoms O or S, whereas the second polymeric material represents polypropylene, polyethylene or propylene/ethylene copolymer. The polymeric protective device (100) for the needle tip is assembled in the above catheter device (1000). The protective device comprises a hole (102) and an elastic lever (103) extending from an attachment point (105). The elastic lever (103) has a rest position enabling the force retract to facilitate a free passage through the hole (102) in the axial direction. The elastic lever (103) together with its flange (110) with an inverse hook is L-shaped to protect the tip (304) of the hollow needle (303) passing through the hole (102). Any imaginary line passing in the longitudinal direction through the hole (102) in the axial direction lies in a point on the surface of the elastic lever (103) between the attachment point (105) and an internal angle (104) of the L-figure of the elastic lever (103), when the elastic lever (103) is found in the rest position. Any imaginary line lies in the point on the surface of the flange (110) with the inverse hook or in the point on the surface between the attachment point (105) and the above angle (104) when the elastic lever (103) protects the needle tip (304) against an occasional contact to the flange (110) with the inverse hook. The elastic lever (103) or the flange (110) with the inverse hook has maximum one external contact point, wherein any part of the hollow needle (303) is contacted when in use. The protective device (100) for the needle tip is made of thermoplastic polymer containing covalently bond atoms O or S.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides the protective device for the needle tip, which can be used in the relatively simple, standard catheter sleeve; the catheter device, operation of which is subject to the minimum adhesion effect; the protective device for the needle tip, which can be easily manufactured with low expenses; it is considerably safe for the patient and user; its use causes no scraping vibrations and/or noise when inserting the needle through the device.
