FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to clinical pharmacogenetics, and may be used for selecting an initial antihypertensive therapy with angiotensin II receptor blockers in the patients with degree 1-2 arterial hypertension. Determined are polymorphisms CYP2C9*2 (Arg144Cys) and CYP2C9*3 (Ile359Leu) of the CYP2C9 gene. If observing a genotype C/C CYP2C9*2 and A/A CYP2C9*3, initial therapy is ensured by irbesartan therapy 150 mg/day. In case of detection of genotypes C/T, or T/T CYP2C9*2, and/or genotypes A/C and C/C CYP2C9*3, valsartan therapy 80 mg/day is used for the initial therapy.

EFFECT: method provides higher efficacy and safety of the initial antihypertensive therapy in the patients with newly diagnosed degree 1-2 arterial hypertension ensured by selecting the preparation on the basis of the pharmacogenetic test results.
