FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to seismology and can be used to determine the time and place of an earthquake. Continuous measurements of volumetric activity of soil radon (VAR) are performed in the mode of continuous pumping from blast holes in at least four points located on the area in the corners of the square with the side equal to the radius of the far zone R1. In case of occurrence of VAR anomaly at any point, occurrence of anomaly on the remaining points is monitored. When detecting an VAR anomaly at any of the remaining points, a conclusion is made on a possible earthquake for 0-6 days, starting from the moment when the VAR anomaly maximum passes at this point, in the area limited by the radius of the near zone R2 with the centre at the point where the first anomaly occurred.
