FIELD: storing or distributing gases or liquids.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of industrial safety of main gas pipelines under conditions of their operation. Method involves entering structural and operational characteristics of the main gas pipeline into the database. Then, periodic in-line diagnostics is performed to analyse characteristics of sections and causes of man-made events. Sections are ranked based on the presence of the following factors: the recorded fact of a technogenic event, unresolved critical defects, the type of protective coating, density of distribution of defects, changes in longitudinal stresses, hydromorphological and hydrogeological conditions. After that, sections of the main gas pipeline are assigned a hazard level depending on the presence of the listed factors. Decision on further operation is made depending on the hazard level assigned to the section.
EFFECT: invention improves industrial safety and reliability of operation of linear part of main gas lines.
