FIELD: metal forming.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly, to design and manufacture of deforming tool for forming axisymmetric articles. A filled 3D model of the deforming tool is created and its 3D frame model is obtained. For this purpose, an optimum amount of material for removal is determined using an iterative calculation method using a CAE system. Skeleton 3D-model is equipped with surface shell. Shell thickness is calculated based on the condition of maintaining the required load without destruction. Then, carcass deforming tool is made from plastic by 3D prototyping.
EFFECT: reduction of material consumption with preservation of tool strength.
