FIELD: glass.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to optical material science and enables to make especially pure glass of the As-S system for the core and cladding of infrared fibre light guides with high transparency in the middle infrared range. Method of producing especially pure sulphide-arsenic glass of the composition from As37S63 to As41S59 involves thermal decomposition of arsenic monosulphide As50S50 with the formation of arsenic sulphide with a controlled "arsenic-sulphur" ratio and elementary arsenic, followed by its removal, homogenisation of the molten arsenic sulphide at 700-800 °C and curing it into glass. Thermal decomposition of arsenic monosulphide occurs in rectification column, wherein elementary arsenic vapours are condensed at column cooled top section while arsenic sulphide and sulphur formed in the reaction are returned to rectifier. Control of ratio "arsenic-sulphur" is due to continuous repetition of said process until achieving in cube of glass-forming compound AsxS100-x of a given composition in range from As37S63 to As41S59.
EFFECT: disclosed method increases output of sulphide-arsenic glass and reduces hydrogen impurity content therein.
