FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to materials for infrared optics, namely to a method of producing especially pure chalcogenide glass doped with rare-earth elements. Method of producing especially pure chalcogenide glass doped with rare-earth elements involves loading the charge components into a vacuumised quartz reactor, synthesis of the glass-forming melt, homogenising melting, quenching of the glass-forming melt and annealing of the glass. Prior to loading of rare-earth elements, high-temperature treatment of rare-earth element in form of simple substance or compound in sulfur vapor is performed in dynamic vacuum mode at temperature of 600–700 °C.
EFFECT: reduced content of impurities in glass which absorb in the spectral range of 2–10 mcm and, as a result, high optical transparency of glasses.
