FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing ultra pure chalcogenide glasses of a germanium-selenium system. Method involves loading the components of the charge into an evacuated quartz reactor, synthesis of glass-forming melt, homogenizing melting and quenching. Germanium selenide (II) is used as a source of germanium. Germanium (II) selenide is obtained by passing selenium vapor over germanium in a dynamic vacuum, a sublimation purification of the obtained germanium (II) selenide is carried out and charged into a vacuum quartz reactor by vacuum evaporation in an amount necessary to produce a glass of a given chemical composition.
EFFECT: decrease in the content of impurities in the glasses absorbing in the spectral range of 2–10 mcm, and, as a consequence, an increase in the optical transparency of the glasses.
