SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method, a device and a system for determining a particle parameter, as well as to a method of operating a blast furnace. Method comprises measuring the profile data of an applied material comprising a plurality of particles applied on a conveyor, wherein the profile data include data on the distance from the measuring device to the applied material or image data of the applied material; detecting each of plurality of particles based on profile data; calculating a factor for separating surface layer particles, which are particles in the surface layer of the applied material, from the applied material based on the profile data; separating surface layer particles from the applied material based on the detection results for each of the plurality of particles and the indicator calculated based on the profile data; and calculating surface layer particles parameter.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining particle parameters.
