SUBSTANCE: according to the present invention, an apparatus comprising an ammonia production unit and a carbamide production unit is provided. Carbamide production unit comprises a gas compressor, a steam turbine in fluid communication with the ammonia production unit for receiving steam produced by the ammonia production unit, and connected to gas compressor for power supply of gas compressor, and electric motor, wherein the electric motor is connected to the gas compressor and is configured to power the gas compressor. In addition, according to the present invention, a method of operating an ammonia-carbamide plant and a method of modernizing an ammonia-carbamide plant are proposed.
EFFECT: method and system for operating a gas compressor in an ammonia-carbamide plant are disclosed.
