FIELD: medicine; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic and medical chemistry and is a method of inhibiting bacterial cystathionine-γ-lyase (cystathionine-gamma-lyase, cystathionine gamma-lyase, or bCSE) using compounds of formula (I), where the ring having “- - -” bonds is absent or is a benzene ring directly bonded to the aromatic system of the pyrrole through two adjacent carbon atoms. Method is characterized by that the compound of formula (I) is used independently or as a potentiator together with antibiotics to inhibit growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Growth inhibition of Acinetobacter baumannii or Pseudomonas aeruginosa gram-negative bacteria is ensured by antibiotics specified in a group: cefepime, meropenem, a mixture of piperacillin and tazobactam. For growth inhibition of gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA, antibiotics are specified in a group: kanamycin, ampicillin, norfloxacin.
EFFECT: high efficiency of inhibiting bacterial cystathionine-γ-lyase (bCSE); high efficiency of using more synthetically available compounds of formula (I) as antibiotic potentiators; wider range of methods of inhibiting protein (bCSE) due to use of antibiotic potentiators to inhibit growth of antibiotic-resistant strains of microorganisms.
