FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an analyte sensor and a method for production thereof. Sensor can be used to measure an analyte in the physiological fluid of a user. Analyte sensor comprises: a substrate, at least one working electrode, at least one second electrode and a membrane. Substrate has a first side and a second side. At least one working electrode is located on the first side of the substrate and comprises at least one electrically conductive material and at least one enzyme. At least one second electrode is located on the second side of the substrate and contains silver. Membrane comprises polymer composition including hydrophobic polymer. Hydrophobic polymer has water absorption of less than 1 wt.% in terms of total weight of hydrophobic polymer. Membrane is located above at least one second electrode and comprises holes with total area of not more than 0.15 mm2.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides high long-term stability and reliability of measurement results obtained by the sensor.
