FIELD: organic chemistry and technology. SUBSTANCE: method of synthesis of 3-ketobutanol involves dehydrogenation of 1,3-butanediol at increased temperature in the presence of copper oxide-containing catalyst. Process is carried out in gaseous phase using a catalyst of the following composition as a copper-containing catalyst, wt.-%: Al2O3 4.1-35.0; CuO 11.0-59.0; Cr2O3 0.5-24.7; ZnO or a mixture of ZnO and MgO 9.5-57.7, and graphite - the rest at the mass ratio ZnO : MgO = (7.6-36):1. EFFECT: increased output of process, simplified technology.
