FIELD: aldehydes. SUBSTANCE: acetaldehyde is extracted through two-stage rectification. Acetaldehyde fraction containing propylene and propylene oxide admixtures are fed to the first column top. Vapor phase acetaldehyde concentrate is discharged from the first column center to be delivered into the second column vat. Propylene oxide fraction purified from acetaldehyde is removed from the first column vat. The propylene oxide fraction withdrawn from the second column vat is delivered as reflux to the first column. EFFECT: less propylene oxide lost; industrially important commercial 99.7% pure acetaldehyde produced at a capacity of 155 kg/h or 1240 t/y. 1 dwg, 4 tbl
